Honda Cars India Limited managed to sell 15,439 units in the month of September up from 14,605 units it managed to sell in last month, August 2016. While the sales are down as compared to September 2015, Honda City sales have shown a surge.
Honda sold a total of 15,034 units domestically with the rest 405 units being exported as compared to 13,941 units and 664 units respectively last month. The Honda Brio hatchback is gaining momentum again with 1,209 units sold this month as against the 700-odd units it has been selling for the past year. But, this might also be because of the dealer push ahead of the launch of the Brio facelift slated on October 4.
Another winner for Honda is the City sedan which has sold close to 6,000 units (5,855) in the month of September up from its average sales of roughly 4,500 units for the past few months. The City has now closed up on the Maruti Ciaz which also showed considerable rise this month to go past 6,500 units.
The Honda Jazz and the brand new B-RV are slowly turning out to be a worry for Honda with the Jazz sales down by almost a third to 2,608 units and the B-RV SUV stagnating at 2,193 units as compared to the 2,229 units last month. The Honda Amaze is growing steadily with 2,861 units this month and showing promise after the launch of the facelift earlier this year.
