Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) announced sales numbers for January 2018, which show a decline of 4.8 per cent. The carmaker sold 14,838 units last month as compared to the 15,592 units a year ago in the same period.Â
This sales figure is even lesser than 17,135 units sold in January 2016. Nonetheless, the carmaker managed to export 398 units last month. Also, on a positive note, the company's sales from April 2017 to January 2018 show a cumulative growth of 17 per cent. A total of 1,44,802 units were sold in this period as opposed to 1,24,114 units in the corresponding period last year.
Last month, the WR-V's sales figures overtook the City's numbers with 4,273 units of the compact SUV sold as against 3,968 units of the sedan. The carmaker sold 422 units of their entry-level Brio hatchback, 2,257 units of its premium hatchback Jazz and 2,836 units of the compact sedan Amaze. In the SUV segment, the BR-V saw sales of 1,071 units, while those of the CR-V stood at 11 units.
Honda is expecting a fruitful year with a major push given to the rural economy and significant investment in the infrastructure development under the Union Budget 2018. Let's hope we get to see new cars from the carmaker at the upcoming Auto Expo.
