Honda India has previewed its 2013 CR-V on its official website. This means that the company will launch the compact crossover for the Indian market very soon. This facelifted version of the fourth generation CR-V was launched for the UK market last month and features mostly cosmetic changes.
The major change is to the front of vehicle which features a revised design. It has become shorter and lower than the 2012 model but due to better packaging the interior space has improved along with a 147-litre increase in boot space. Honda has also tweaked the aerodynamics and given the CR-V a flat underbody.
The Indian spec CR-V will continue to be powered by the 2.0-litre producing 140bhp and 190Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via six-speed manual or a five-speed automatic.
Sadly, Honda will not be offering the 2.2-litre 150bhp i-Dtec diesel engine for the Indian market as this variant is manufactured in the UK and importing them would raise the price to high. The company has also said that the CR-V does not generate enough volumes to justify the cost of introducing a completely new product. Stay tuned to CarWale as we will bring you all the details of the 2013 from the official launch.
