Honda Car India is expanding its portfolio for the Indian market and is looking to enter the compact SUV space in our country. The manufacturer has already started a study on the growing compact SUV segment.
The company has tasted a fair bit of success with the new launches and wants to expand their Indian portfolio. The compact SUV segment has expanded and the annual market size of this segment in India is expected to be 8,000 to 10,000 units per month. Honda would definitely want to venture into this space and provide a product that would cater to the needs of people looking for such vehicles.
Anita Sharma, assistant vice president, marketing division, Honda Cars India, said, "We are in an advanced stage of a study on the compact SUV space and will take a call based on the study's outcome. The compact SUV is a growing market."
With this new car, Honda aims to target the Indian buyers in the age-group of 25-35 years and earning Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000 monthly. It is too early to comment if this vehicle will be the BR-V compact SUV or not, but we hope to see this car at the 2016 Auto Expo in India. The carmaker had recently released the sketches of the concept vehicle, which with a high ground clearance and sporty looks should appeal to the Indian consumers.
