Most of the Honda dealers in the country have run out of the top-end V petrol and diesel variants of the Mobilio. The company has stopped production of the MUV since last December and is clearing stocks to discontinue the car ahead of the BR-V launch.
The Honda dealerships across India are offering discounts worth Rs 50,000 on the MUV, though most are left only with the E and S trims. The sales of the seven-seater MUV went down considerably over the last few months, with the car registering sales only in three digits for a while.
The BR-V, based on the same platform, will be Honda’s new entrant in the utility segment. The BR-V is more of a SUV, with seven seats. It has the same dimensions as the Mobilio, but offers more aggressive looks, additional ground clearance and premium quality. Honda will position the new SUV to compete with the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster with a price tag of about Rs 1 lakh more than the Mobilio.
A few dealers might still have the top-end V trim of the Mobilio in stock and it still makes a decent deal, provided the car is available with discounts. The spares for the car should not be much of an issue, since majority of the components will continue to be used in the BR-V.
