Edit: Click here to check the live updates from the Honda Mobilio launch event at Delhi.
If you have been waiting to buy the first MPV from Honda, then your wait for the Honda Mobilio will be over tomorrow. The Japanese manufacturer will launch the car in India at an event in Delhi.
The Honda Mobilio is based on the same platform as the Brio hatchback and the Amaze sedan. However, at 4.4 metres in length, the Mobilio is considerably longer making more space on the inside than the other two siblings. The MPV gets a third row which can accommodate children and luggage comfortably. The interiors of the car are the same as the Brio and Amaze, with beige being the prominent colour.
The Mobilio will be offered with two engine options, a 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.5-litre petrol. The oil-burner gets a power output of 100bhp while the petrol trim produces 117bhp of power. All the engine variants will come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
Honda should be able to price the Mobilio competitively with its idea of sharing most of its parts among the three models- Brio, Amaze and the Mobilio. The MPV will compete with other seven-seaters like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy, Nissan Evalia and the Toyota Innova. It is expected that Honda will price the Mobilio Rs 70,000 to Rs 80,000 more than its main rival- the Ertiga.
Honda dealerships had already started taking bookings of the MPV with prospective buyers reserving it for a booking amount of Rs 50,000. We will get to know the exact pricing of all the variants tomorrow at the launch. So stay tuned to CarWale.
