The Honda Mobilio has hit the roads of South Africa and has been priced at 179,900 Rand (Rs 9.96 lakh). South Africa gets the Japanese automaker’s entry-level MPV in three petrol variants and with two transmission options. This car is made at Honda India’s plant and exported to South Africa.
The exterior and interior remains the same as the India-spec car but include some added safety equipment in line with the requirements of the road regulations of the African nation. There are three variants -Trend, comfort and comfort AT which, by the look of it are equal to the India-spec S and V variants.
The engine on offer is the 1.5-litre i-VTEC mill that produces 118bhp and 145Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a five-speed manual or the CVT for the Comfort AT variant. Honda has launched the Mobilio in South Africa to rival the Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Avanza and the FAW Sirius.
