PT Honda Prospect Motor, Honda’s local Indonesian subsidiary has registered 4,500 pre-bookings of the Honda Mobilio even before the factory that will produce it goes online. They have said that the car will go into production in January 2014 only and deliveries are expected to start in February.
The Honda Mobilio was first showcased at the Indonesian Motor show last month and ever since then it has been making a good impression in the car market. Honda had started taking customer previews for the vehicle. The huge demand of the MPV is clearly shown by the amount of pre-bookings that have been done.
It is the third vehicle to be based on the Brio platform and will be powered by the 1.5-litre petrol mill that powers the City Sedan. In India, the Mobilio will also get the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine from the Amaze sedan.
We expect the Honda Mobilio to be launched in India next year. The MPV has been priced in the range of 150-180 million Indonesian Rupiah which is equivalent to Rs 8.41lakh to Rs 10.09lakh. It will mainly compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and the Mahindra Quanto.
