Honda is making sure that it leaves no stone unturned in its efforts to market its newest offering the Honda Mobilio MPV. The Japan-based automaker, has as a result, started taking customer previews for the car, which was previously showcased in September 2013 at the Indonesia Motor Show.
The Mobilio MPV is likely to get into production early in 2014 at Honda’s manufacturing unit in West Java. We also expect it to be launched in India next year.
Honda is taking ideas from prospective customers especially from developing car markets like Indonesia and India to make sure its strategy is spot on. The Honda Mobilio will apparently be available in three variants – S, E and E CVT. The one shown in the pictures here is the top of the line, E variant.
The elongated car is based on Honda’s hatchback, the Brio and is expected to enter the MPV segment with a bang. We had shown a glimpse of the interiors previously, here.
The MPV is powered by the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine which is currently powering the Honda City. The petrol engine churning out 117bhp of power and 146Nm of torque is mated to a five-speed manual and an automatic one in the CVT variant. The Indian market probably will also get the 1.5-litre EarthDreams diesel engine used in the Honda Amaze diesel car.
The Honda Mobilio MPV will hit the Indonesian Market in the first half of 2014 and will be priced in the range of 150 to 180 million Indonesian Rupiah (Rs8.41lakh to Rs10.09lakh). When launched in India next year it will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy, Ashok Leyland Stile and Nissan Evalia.
