Those looking to have a go in Honda’s much awaited Mobilio will not have to wait much longer as the stylish compact MPV is expected to hit the showrooms by July 23, 3014. Having recently updated its official website with a vague insight on the launch, Honda India will finally launch the vehicle in the Indian market soon.
At 4.4 meters, the Mobilio is based on the same platform that also underpins the Brio hatchback. In interest of keeping production costs down, the Mobilio will be seen sharing a lot of components with the Brio and the Amaze. The interiors of the new model, as a result, are similar to that of the Brio and the Amaze with beige being the predominant colour.
Sticking true to its compact MPV character, the third-row of seats is designed mainly to accommodate children or make way for extra luggage. Under the hood, the Mobilio will be offered in petrol and diesel trims, which will share its engine options with the Honda City. The 117bhp, 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and the 100bhp, 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine will be offered with the MPV.
In addition to the standard Mobilio range, Honda India is expected to launch the Mobilio RS – the vehicle’s flagship variant which is currently sold in Indonesia. This sportier looking version gets an aggressively styled body kit, new design wheels, revised headlights and an all-black interior theme.
The Mobilio is already on sale in Indonesia where it’s doing really well for Honda. With that in mind, the MPV could pose a big challenge for Maruti Suzuki when it arrives in the Indian market. The latter has the Ertiga in its portfolio which is currently the leading MPV in India. Stay tuned to this page as we bring you all the details on the upcoming Honda Mobilio.
