Honda is likely to launch the Amaze Sedan on April 11 according to a report from Overdrive. Earlier there were reports that the sub-four meter sedan will be launched on April 16, but the publication reports that the date has been advanced to get the car into the dealerships in anticipation of massive demand.
The report also says Honda began production of the Amaze in January and has produced over 10,000 units in a bid to ensure that there are enough cars available for all the dealers. Honda expects to sell 12000 units per month and has the capacity to increase production to a maximum of 20,000 units. This also means that the waiting period for the Amaze will be quite low, a strategy Honda had followed for the Brio hatchback and the current City.
The Honda Amaze will be the Japanese automakers first diesel for the Indian market. The sedan and will be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel mill that produces 90bhp. It has been designed specifically for developing markets and is based on the Brio platform.
