Honda’s new Civic has been launched in the Chinese market and prices range from 129900 yuan to 169900 yuan (Rs 13.33 lakh to Rs 17.44 lakh).
This version of the Civic launched in China is identical to the North American spec and it will be made in China by the Dongfeng-Honda joint venture. Honda has kept things simple and is offering the latest version with a single engine option called the 220 Turbo. Power to the front wheels is derived from the 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo motor that kicks up 180bhp and 220Nm of torque. Buyers have the option to opt for the six-speed manual gearbox or the CVT.
Sources reveal that the latter half of 2016 could see the engine lineup on the Civic expand by an extra engine option. The 1.0-litre four-cylinder mill may be called the 180 Turbo and makes a decidedly less 129bhp and 200Nm of torque. Interiors on the new generation Civic are a combination of grey and silver on the dashboard. Doorpads are finished in grey and beige, while seat fabric is comprised mainly of beige leather.
Honda in India has not confirmed any intentions of getting the Civic saloon back to the Indian market as of now.
