A completely undisguised Honda Jazz has been photographed at a dealer stockyard, ahead of the premium hatchback’s launch in July.
Built on a new platform, the new Jazz’s design has been penned along the lines of Honda’s ‘Exciting H!!!’ philosophy. The spy shots of the interior show that Honda has carried over the overall design of the City’s interior for the new Jazz, along with the CVT transmission.
While the lack of a diesel engine in the previous Jazz’s engine line-up was one of the reasons for the hatchback’s failure in India, Honda will offer the new model along with the option of an oil burner. The Jazz will get Honda’s popular 1.5-litre four-pot Earth Dreams diesel engine, which produces 99bhp and 200Nm of torque. Besides this, the Jazz will also get the 1.2-litre iVTEC petrol engine.
It has been a while since Honda commenced the production of the new Jazz at its plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan, to cater to its other global markets. Though there isn’t any official word on this yet, reports suggest that the new Jazz will be launched in India on July 8. The Jazz will compete with other premium hatchbacks like the Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and the Fiat Punto Evo.
