Honda Cars has now equipped its premium hatchback, the Jazz, with dual airbags as a standard feature across the range. The addition of the safety feature has resulted in the price hike of around Rs 12,000.
Earlier the dual airbags were only available on the V, SV, and VX variants, but now even the base E and S variants are equipped with the driver and front passenger airbags as standard. After the revised price, the base variant E starts from Rs 5.81 lakh (Rs 5.69 lakh previously) and the S variant is now priced at Rs 6.44 lakh (Rs 6.33 lakh), all prices ex-showroom in Delhi.
The Jazz was the only car in the Honda’s line-up sans the dual airbags as standard. Its competitors - the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai Elite i20 – though came with airbags as standard on all trims. This is inline with the government of India’s call on making airbags mandatory on all cars by October 2017.
