Honda Cars India launched the Jazz premium hatchback in Mumbai today. Priced at Rs 5.30 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai, without octroi), it will compete with the Hyundai Elite i20 and the Volkswagen Polo.
Unlike the previous generation Jazz which was available only in the petrol variant, the new Jazz is being offered in diesel guise as well. The 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine produces 98bhp and 200Nm of torque, powering the front wheels a via six-speed manual transmission. The petrol version uses the 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine producing 90bhp and 110Nm of torque. The petrol will be available with the option of both the five-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission (coupled with paddle shifters).
Using the company’s ‘Exciting H Design’ philosophy, the Jazz looks like a perfect romance between a mini MPV and a hatchback. While the front reminds us of the City sedan, the side and the rear attract lot of attention. The car comes with nine-bottle holders, one less from the predecessor and with a boot capacity of 354 litres, it is one of the most practical hatchbacks to go for.
