Honda has exhibited the India-bound Jazz at the ongoing Auto Shanghai Show in China. This car is known as the Fit in other markets and made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show last year. The car is built by the Guangzhou-Honda joint venture and costs CNY 73,800 (Rs 7.18 lakh).
The new Honda Jazz showcased at this show is a bit different from the one launched in the European market. This comes with a black grille that is seen on the model for the Japanese, American and Indian market. The car in Europe gets a chrome grille. Apart from this, the car gets features similar to the one that was showcased at the Paris Motor Show last year in a pre-production form.
Coming to the powertrain, the Fit for the Chinese market gets a 1.5-litre SOHC i-VTEC petrol mill that churns out 130bhp of power and 155Nm of torque. It comes mated to a seven-speed stepped CVT gearbox with paddles behind the steering. For the Indian market, the 1.5-litre diesel mill and a 1.3-litre petrol mill mated to a new six-speed manual gearbox might be introduced. There will also be an optional CVT transmission. The other models that are sold in the other markets come paired to a five-speed manual transmission.
While we are still waiting for the Jazz for the Indian market, Honda has launched the new Jazz globally. In India, the hatchback will get a few changes to the exterior, a 1.3-litre engine under the hood and will be launched within a couple of months. The first lot of vehicles is ready at Honda’s manufacturing plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan, the photos of which were clicked at the start of this year.
