Honda Car India has started taking bookings of their new Jazz hatchback. The car can be booked for Rs 21,000 at any Honda dealership. The manufacturer has also revealed all the details of the car through their website.
This is a new generation of car that looks more promising than the predecessor. Neither did the earlier one create much hype, nor did it do well in terms of sales. But this successor is expected to create quite a buzz as it not just looks good but has many features to offer. Moreover, this time, the car will be offered in diesel variants as well.
The earlier model was offered only as a petrol version and this will be the first time Honda will offer the Jazz with a diesel engine in India. The new i-DTEC unit has tasted a fair bit of success with the Amaze, City and the Mobilio in India. So now, the Jazz will be offered with the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine and the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol unit. The transmission options include either a five-speed manual or a CVT gearbox for the petrol, while the oil-burner gets a six-speed manual similar to the one in the City.
The first innings of the Jazz in India were not that great and it didn't find a good demand as it was priced considerably higher than the competition. However, this latest iteration of the Jazz has created quite a sensation globally and is expected to create quite a lot of excitement in India as well. It will be launched in the coming month and we hope Honda prices the car well for the Indian market to give the other premium hatchbacks like the Volkswagen Polo and the Hyundai i20 a tough fight.
