Honda UK has taken the covers off a new special version of its popular hatchback – the Civic. Called the Civic Black Edition, this new version sports a mean look with its all-black exterior design. The Japanese carmaker has also launched similar versions of the CRV and the Jazz.
On the outside, the car gets an aluminium Black Edition logo, gloss black roof spoiler, integrated covers for the side mirrors and a gloss black fuel lid cover. Honda is offering the special edition model with the 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine or the 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol unit.
The 1.6-litre i-DTEC unit, which is going to be the choice of many even in the UK, produces 120bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. The 1.8 i-VTEC petrol engine, meanwhile, is rated at 142bhp and 174Nm.
The Honda Civic is one of the most popular premium hatchbacks in the UK. Its rivals include Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus and Hyundai i30. As for its Indian innings, the car was sold in the India market as a stylish D-segment sedan; however, due to its poor fuel efficiency and lack of diesel power, it was pulled out of the market in 2012.
