Honda's much-awaited premium hatchback, the Jazz, is due for an Indian launch and the manufacturer has started teasing the car. The company has released a video and updated their website revealing some features of the car.
The model that will be launched is the next-generation Jazz hatchback. It is sold as the Fit in other markets and measures 3,955mm in length, 36mm less in comparison to the previous generation car. The width has increased by 8mm to 1,702mm, but the height remains unchanged at 1,524 mm. Nevertheless, the wheelbase has increased to 2,530mm compared to the 2,500mm in the previous generation hatchback, meaning a little more space inside the cabin.
The Jazz will be offered in both petrol and diesel variants. The newly introduced 1.5-litre Earth Dreams diesel motor is Honda's only versatile diesel engine currently in production. It is seen under the hood of the Amaze, Mobilio, City and will continue to be employed for the Jazz's diesel variant. The petrol version of the Jazz will be powered by the 1.2-litre i-VTEC mill. The transmission options include the five-speed manual and five-speed automatic.
This is the new-generation of the Honda Jazz which looks more promising than the previous iteration. Neither did the earlier one create much hype, nor did it do well in terms of sales. But the new one is expected to create quite a buzz as it not only looks good, but has many features to offer as well.
Honda has already started the new Jazz's production in India and we can expect it to be launched in a couple of months. Honda's plan of introducing new models for the Indian market has worked for them with the Amaze, new City and Mobilio in 2014 and we hope Honda replicates this success with the upcoming Jazz.
