Honda Cars India sold 22,696 units last month showing a 23 per cent hike in total sales. They had sold 18,426 units in March 2014. The company has announced that its March 2015 sales report is its highest ever monthly domestic sales for the financial year.
The manufacturer attributes this success to the various products in its portfolio. However, the outstanding performer is the new City that crossed the fastest one lakh cumulative sales mark in just 15 months. It registered 1,01,299 units sales since its launch in January 2014. This is the fourth-generation of the City and last month 9,777 units were sold. The other contributors to the list include 1,642 units of the Brio, 8,128 units of the compact sedan Amaze, 3,049 units of Mobilio and 100 units of its sports utility vehicle CRV.
The manufacturer also reports a 41 per cent growth over last financial year with its highest ever annual domestic sales of 1,89,062 units during FY 2014-15. The company had sold 1,34,339 units in the corresponding period in FY 2013-14.
HCIL exported 691 cars last month. Apart from Honda's good performance in domestic sales, the company’s annual export volume also grew by 45 per cent during FY 2014-15 with 8,403 units as against 5,798 units in the FY 2013-14.
Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice-President, Marketing and Sales, HCIL, said, "The fiscal 2014-2015 has been extremely fruitful for HCIL. We are thankful to our customers for the great response we have achieved for Mobilio launched in July last year and their continued interest for other models. The new Honda City has achieved exceptional success with over one lakh sales in record 15 months. We are excited about the upcoming launch of Honda Jazz in the new fiscal and look forward to another year of good growth."
HCIL had a clear aim of opening more dealerships to extend their services far and wide in India. They have tasted a fair bit of success on that front as well by posting a growth of 36 per cent in nation-wide dealer network expansion. This development was mainly focused on existing markets and newer Tier III cities. At present, Honda has 232 facilities in 152 cities across our country. So with a good service backing and a clear focus on the expansion drive, the carmaker has paved out a detailed way of launching new products. They will soon launch the much-awaited new Jazz for the Indian market.
