First unveiled in July 2013, the latest-generation Honda Jazz is now on sale in Japan, North America and Indonesia. The premium hatchback is currently bringing in good sales figures for Honda thanks to its modern new design, practical interiors and its efficient nature.
Honda is now preparing to launch the new Jazz in the Indian market, reports Autocar India. The Japanese automaker has reportedly confirmed a March 2015 launch for the new Jazz. The car made its Indian debut at the 2014 Auto Expo and is expected to launch with both petrol and diesel engine options.
Although the Jazz is a much bigger vehicle compared to Honda India’s other hatchback – the Brio, the former will still fall under the sub 4-metre space to make the most of excise duty benefits. Engine options will be sourced from the company’s existing lineup consisting of the City, the Amaze and the Brio.
The previous generation Jazz never really took off in the Indian market, mainly because of the high price tag. In a bid to improve sales, Honda slapped on massive price cuts on the car, however, the effort didn’t bring much respite for both the company and the model. The car was eventually discontinued in early 2013. Now with the new generation Jazz, Honda is sure to adopt a better pricing strategy in order to make this new model highly competitive in the premium hatchback segment.
