Fresh import reports reveal that Honda has imported a diesel CR-V unit to India for research and development purpose. The SUV has arrived in the country from the United Kingdom on August 16, thereby indicating its debut in the country sometime soon. The new diesel CR-V is expected to position itself against the upcoming Jeep and Tucson SUVs in India.
The import report indicates that Honda has imported the diesel CR-V unit which is powered by a 1.6-litre engine. In the international market this engine is available in two tunes – 118bhp and 300Nm of torque, and 158bhp and 350Nm of torque. Though the power output figures for the India bound model is not known for now, we believe it might be the 118bhp variant which is expected to come mated to a six-speed manual transmission. To begin with, Honda might initially offer the diesel CR-V in two-wheel drive setup only.
As for the design aspect, we do not expect to see major upgrades. As for safety, we expect it to be loaded with all modern safety equipment. The interiors might also get a few additional premium upgrades in comparison to the current generation model. And, as for price, we anticipate that the vehicle might be priced between Rs 25 -28 lakh. Additional details about the vehicle will be known in the coming days.
