The Honda HR-V will be launched in the UK by June of this year. It was first shown at the 2014 New York Auto Show in concept form, the Honda HR-V was unveiled later at the 2014 LA Auto Show in production-spec. The new crossover shares the same platform as the latest-gen Fit and is loosely based on the JDM spec Vezel.
Before the official launch, the European-spec HR-V will be unveiled in all its glory at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show next month. With its distinctively sculpted coupe-like lines merged with the solid stance of an SUV, the HR-V ideally sums up the definition of a crossover.
When launched, the HR-V will be available with a choice of 120bhp, 1.6 litre i-DTEC diesel or 130bhp, 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol engines, both part of Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology series. Each will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol powered model, though, will also be available with a CVT automatic unit.
With the introduction of the new Euro-spec HR-V, Honda will be looking to take on the compact crossover segment which currently includes the Renault Captur and the popular Nissan Juke.
