Honda has launched a standard petrol version of the Grace sedan for the Japanese market. In essence, the car that we call the City in India and Malaysia is now also being offered in standard form in the LX variant. The hybrid version of the Grace was launched in Japan in December.
The engine is a 1.5-litre direct-injection petrol motor that produces 130bhp and sends power to the front wheels or all four wheels via a CVT gearbox and AWD system in the case of the latter. As per Japan testing regulations this car has a fuel efficiency of 21.8kmpl which is still pretty good considering that the Grace Hybrid does 34.4kmpl under the same regulations.
On the design and feature front, the Grace is exactly the same as the India-spec City with the only major changes being those that are required by Japanese laws. There is even one version where the front passenger seat rotates full circle. Even the colour options are the same as compared with the Indian models with the only major addition being a crystal metallic red specific to this version of the Grace.
Prices for the Grace LX petrol across all variants are in the range of 1.75 million Yen to 2.09 million Yen (Rs 9.05 lakh to Rs 10.79 lakh).
