Honda has announced that it will fast forward the launch of the Vezel crossover in the Chinese market to October rather than November as it had announced earlier. The crossover was shown to the Chinese market in concept form at the at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show in April and has already gone into production at the Guangzhou-Honda plant in Guangzhou.
The China-spec Honda Vezel will be offered with two petrol engines- the 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that produces 131bhp and the 1.8-litre i-VTEC four pot motor that produces 165bhp. Both engines can be had with a five-speed manual or a CVT. Given the scope and depth of vehicles in the Chinese market, it seems almost certain that the 1.5-litre hybrid unit will make its way to China during the course of 2015. The Vezel is 4.2 metres long and has a wheelbase of 2.6 metres.
It has been priced in the range of 120000 Yuan to 150000 Yuan (Rs 11.9 lakh to Rs 14.88 lakh) and competes with cars like the Suzuki S-Cross SX4, Nissan Juke, Renault Captur and its very own sibling the Honda XR-V which is essentially a Vezel with different bumpers and made by Dongfeng-Honda.
