Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has announced a growth of 88 per cent in August this year. The company sold 16,758 cars last month while they had sold 8,913 units in the corresponding month last year.
The manufacturer also exported 460 units during the same period. The company sold 73,185 units from April to August 2014 in comparison to 49,263 units sold during the corresponding period last year. This also shows a 49 per cent hike in sales for that period. Honda has achieved a great response from the three big launches like the Amaze last year, new City at the start of this year and the Mobilio MPV this year.
Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, “We are extremely happy to witness consistent growth for Honda cars month after month. The festive season has already set in and will bring further cheer to the market. We are geared up for strong sales in coming months.”
Honda also announced that they will commence the production of the new City sedan at their Tapukara manufacturing facility, in Rajasthan, this month. The company has tasted quite a bit of success in India by crossing milestones of selling one lakh Amaze cars and one lakh units of cars powered by the new i-DTEC engines. Honda entered the diesel segment of cars with the introduction of this i-DTEC diesel engine technology which has received an overwhelming response from the market.
