Honda has discontinued the Mobilio MPV for the Indian market. The Japanese automaker has officially ceased the sales of Mobilio and the vehicle has been removed from their official website.
The production of the current model has been stalled. However, Honda has not yet made up its mind about bringing the updated Mobilio to the Indian market, although its already been unveiled in the international market. There is no official statement from Honda about the 2017 Mobilio, and the updated MPV’s arrival can only be speculated at the moment.
Launched in 2014, the Honda Mobilio was the Japanese automaker’s entry into the burgeoning MPV segment in the Indian car market then. It was their answer to the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Renault Lodgy. However in just a short span of time, Indian buyers switched their tastes from people carriers to SUVs creating bleak prospects for the Mobilio.
The Honda Mobilio is built on the extended platform of the Honda Brio, and shares its drive train with the Honda City, Honda Amaze and the Honda BR-V. The petrol variant was powered by 1.5-litre engine producing 117bhp and was mated to a five speed gearbox. However, the diesel variant was powered by a 1.5-litre engine producing 99bhp and mated to a six speed gearbox. There was also a diesel RS variant on offer, which came with additional goodies like sporty front and rear bumpers, side skirts, rear spoiler and projector headlamps.
