Honda has announced that it has ended production of the current-gen Civic Type R. And to commemorate the last of this hot hatch gem, the brand has unleashed the Black Edition which will account for the last ever 100 units to roll off the production line.
Already on their way to dealers in select markets, the Black Edition features a predominantly black interior with red accents while the exterior is differentiated from the standard version by red rear wing end plates on the spoiler.
Given that the pricing is based on the existing GT model, Honda is expecting the Black Edition to sell out quickly. With production of the current Civic Type R at Honda’s factory in Swindon now finished, the factory is gearing up for the next-gen Civic which goes on sale in March. Meanwhile, the new Civic Type R is expected to hit the showrooms in the latter half of this year.
