From the pictures, it looks like Honda has got the saloon version of the Civic under development in the more potent ‘Si’ version. Sources have earlier claimed that Honda is already gearing up to launch the Civic Coupe in the same ‘Si’ trim later this year, and this is the first sighting that confirms the saloon is also getting the Si treatment.
Despite the heavily camouflaged test mule concealing the front fascia, there is an unmistakeable design resemblance to the styling of the 2017 Honda Civic Si Prototype concept that was unveiled at the recent Los Angeles Auto Show. Of course, other than the lower rear spoiler on the saloon version, everything else seems to be spot-on.
Honda’s Civic Si concept uses the same 1.5-litre turbocharged motor that currently does duty in the range, but has been further tuned to make more power. Reports state that the upcoming Si could be expected with at least 200bhp to take on the likes of hot hatches like the Ford Focus ST and the Volkswagen GTI.
Though Honda is yet to confirm when the Honda Civic Si saloon will hit the market, it is expected to roll out early next year. Stay tuned for more information.
