The Honda Civic sedan and the Jazz hatchback have been removed from the Honda website homepage. However, at the time of publishing this story, the Japanese automaker still has the microsite for both vehicles and continues to list ex-showroom prices for the Civic.
There have been reports circulating since August last year that Honda was planning to discontinue the Civic due to lack of demand. This has been further facilitated by the fact that in recent times, many SUVs have been launched in the same price bracket as the Civic. To continue its presence in that price category, Honda is expected to bring a Jazz based SUV sometime next year.
The Jazz, on the other hand, has supposedly been discontinued last month due to falling demand and to open up production capacity for the upcoming Amaze diesel sedan. The sedan, when launched, is expected to be in same price bracket that the Jazz exists in. While it has discontinued the car, it is believed that Honda will complete all pending deliveries for the Jazz.
The Honda Civic is powered by a 1.8-litre petrol mill producing 131PS and 171Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic gearbox. The Jazz is powered by a 1.2-litre mill producing 88PS and 109Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.
