One of India’s best selling cars has made its way into China as Honda has revealed the sixth-generation City at the ongoing 2015 Auto Shanghai. The C-segment sedan will be manufactured in China by the joint venture of Guangzhou Auto Corporation (GAC) and Honda.
Barring the wheel design, the car looks similar to the India-spec City that’s currently on sale here. Measuring 4,440mm in length and with a wheelbase of 2600mm, the dimensions are similar, too. Underneath, the China-spec City is being offered with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine that develops 117bhp of power and 145Nm of torque.
Like in the Indian market, Honda is offering a CVT automatic gearbox for this model, with the rest of the variants getting a 6-speed manual as standard.
The sixth generation Honda City has been a big hit in the Indian market, largely thanks to the availability of a diesel option. However, things are much different in China where an absolute lack of demand for diesel cars means the City will only be offered in petrol guise.
