Honda's most popular and its flagship sedan, the City, has crossed the 7 lakh unit sales milestone in India. This makes the current fourth-generation model the highest-selling City yet.
The present model was facelifted earlier this year and has been well accepted in the domestic market. In fact, this fourth-gen City is the most successful with 2,69,941 units sold till now since 2014. These include both the petrol as well as diesel models.
The City brand was first introduced in India in 1998. Its journey has been detailed in the image below. The sedan has a presence in more than 60 countries, but India is its key market bringing, in over 25 per cent of the car's worldwide sales. Potential buyers have the option of choosing a wide range of trims. The car comes powered either by a 1.5-litre petrol or diesel mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Also, there's a petrol CVT that has accounted for about 30 per cent of the City customers.
