- Price hike varies between Rs 10,000 to Rs 35,000
- Introductory pricing of the Amaze to be revised
Honda Cars India has announced a price hike for their cars varying from Rs 10,000 for their entry-level hatchback, the Brio, up to Rs 35,000 for the higher end cars like the City. The price hike comes on the backdrop of increased custom duties and increased input costs.
Rajesh Goel, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, HCIL said, "Due to the increasing pressure on input costs, impact of custom duty hike over past few months and higher freight rates, we are forced to consider increasing the prices of our cars."
The price hike will be effective from 1 August 2018 and will also include Honda’s current bestseller, the Amaze. Launched with the introductory price tag, the Honda Amaze will undergo price revision and might become dearer by anything between Rs 15,000 to Rs 35,000 depending upon the variants.
Honda is also expected to launch the facelifted Jazz this year along with all-new Civic and the CR-V. As of now, Honda has the Brio, the Amaze, the Jazz, the WR-V and the Honda City in its India line-up. The CR-V is expected to get the 1.6-litre 120bhp diesel engine which might also power the Civic.
