Looking at the rising input costs many manufacturers have felt the pinch and decided to transfer these costs down to the customers. Due to 'inflationary pressure' and hike in raw material cost, Honda also plans to hike the prices of their cars in India from next month.
Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd told ETAuto, "We are working on increasing the prices of vehicles across models from April due to the cost pressure. In the Union Budget excise duty was increased to 12.5 per cent from 12 per cent while education cess levied on cost of vehicle plus excise duty, was lifted, this caused a slight increase in the price of small cars where we have Brio and Amaze".
So with the adjustments made by the government on small car duty structure, the small cars from the carmaker were already under pressure since February. The company has not specified the amount they plan to increase but the increment will be across different models from their line-up. This will be the second price hike this year after the prices were adjusted at the start of the year with increase in the excise duty. Earlier, Honda had increased the prices of their vehicles by up to Rs 60,000.
