Honda Cars India is working on strengthening its sales and service network in this fiscal year. The Japanese car maker had a cheerful Fy 2013-14, having sold 1,34,339 units they registered a growth of 83 per cent in comparison to the previous fiscal. This year, the company will look to better that number and to fuel the growth they need to reach out to more customers.
The company’s sales and marketing director, Jnaneswar Sen said they are looking at a number of 230 dealerships in 150 cities by March 2015. The company currently has 170 dealerships with presence in 107 cities.
Sen told a publication, the plan is to be prepared for sales not only of the Amaze and new City sedans that are racking up good numbers but also the Mobilio MPV and the Jazz that are expected to be launched later this year.
The company plans to open three new dealerships in the north-east at Itanagar, Imphal and Dimapur in a matter of few months.
Honda struggled in India until early 2013 due to their reluctance to offer diesel cars. However, having done that, the company has been racking up good numbers and with more winning products in their line-up they need to support the sales. The company has started phase I of operations at its new plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan and is well poised to produce 2,40,000 cars (without additional shifts) this fiscal year, up by twice the number last year.
