For a while now, it looked like Honda Cars India had gained momentum in their monthly sales figures thanks to the new models coming in. However, judging by the sales numbers for April 2017, the uptrend seems to have hit shaky grounds. Honda sold only 14,480 units in India in April compared to the 18,950 units sold in March 2017.
Nevertheless, when compared to the numbers sold in April 2016, the sales are up by almost 38 per cent as Honda managed to sell only 10,486 units last year. The dip in sales figures can be attributed to the decline in the numbers of the Amaze compact sedan and the Jazz premium hatchback. With the launch of the new Hyundai Xcent and unveiling of the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the Amaze has taken a hit and will certainly take some time to recover. The Jazz on the other hand has had to bear the brunt of the rising popularity of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai Elite i20.
The Honda BR-V sales have also halved and are now just above 700 units a month, pushing the seven-seater crossover SUV further towards the wall. The Honda City, as always, has been the star in the Honda line-up consistently, selling close to 6,000 units a month. The new-kid-on-the-block Honda WR-V also has clocked over 3,000 units in its third month since its launch. The City has received 25,000 bookings since the launch of the facelift while the WR-V has garnered over 12,000 bookings in just over a month.
