Honda has officially unveiled the BR-V crossover for the Indian market at the ongoing Auto Expo. It was first showcased as a concept at the 2015 Indonesia International Motor Show and Indonesia is the first country to get the production version.
The BR-V stands for Bold Runabout Vehicle and is based on the Honda Mobilio or stretched Brio platform. However, the seven-seater vehicle gets a sporty look and comes with premium features than the other Honda siblings.
The Honda BR-V will be launched in India this year. It will be locally produced in our country and is expected to have a sub-10 lakh starting price. It will then compete with the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster.
Takahiro Hachigo, President, CEO and Representative Officer, Honda Motor Co., Ltd. said, "India is the largest contributor to the Asia & Oceania region and the fourth largest contributor for Honda's automobile sales globally making it one of the most important and fastest growing markets for us. In order to further accelerate growth in this important market, Honda is committed to continue providing challenging products, which are unique to Honda and exceed our customers' expectation. The introduction of Honda BR-V is a further testament of our commitment to the market."
