According to reports, Honda India is getting ready to launch the BR-V on 5th May, 2016. This crossover was officially revealed at the Auto Expo 2016 that was held in Delhi earlier this year.
Honda’s BR-V (Bold Runabout Vehicle) is a vehicle that is based on the Honda Mobilio, however, this seven-seater gets a sporty stance and comes equipped with premium features. The vehicle will roll out of Honda’s Rajasthan plant and is expected to have a sub-Rs10 lakh starting price. When launched it will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster. The equipment list on the BR-V is in line with the current cabin layout of cars from the Honda portfolio. That said, the quality of interiors have been upgraded and this makes the cabin feel more up-market.
Power for the BR-V will be sourced from the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines that do duty in the Mobilio. These will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The petrol version could also get a CVT transmission as an option. Externally, the wide chrome grille, projector headlamps and large air dam along with the chiselled bumpers complete the dramatic fascia. The large alloy wheels, high roof rails and muscular wheel arches also impart a sporty presence. The rear end is characterised by the wrap-around tail lamps that extend below the windscreen.
The Honda BR-V is expected to be Honda’s next big ticket to the Indian market and especially the SUV segment where the action seems present. Stay tuned for more on this new entrant.
