Honda Car India Ltd. unveiled the BR-V crossover recently at the 2016 Auto Expo also marking its premiere for the Indian market. The carmaker has now listed the car on their official Indian website hinting at its imminent launch.
The BR-V featured on the website is in a new green colour that is not offered on any of the Honda cars from the Indian line-up yet. The new seven-seater is being promoted as a premium vehicle that will sit on top of the Mobilio in the Indian portfolio. The BR-V stands for Bold Runabout Vehicle and is based on the Honda Mobilio or stretched Brio platform. It looks sporty and comes packed with features similar to the other Honda siblings albeit with a higher quotient of luxury and premium feel.
The Honda BR-V was first showcased as a concept at the 2015 Indonesia International Motor Show and its production version was recently launched in Indonesia. The vehicle will be locally produced in India and might go on sale soon. It will be offered with the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel powertrains with the availability of a six-speed automatic gearbox apart from the five-speed manual. It is expected to be priced below Rs 10 lakh and will compete with the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster.
