The Honda BR-V will be launched for the Indian market tomorrow. It rivals the likes of the Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta which both have diesel AT options but are five-seaters as compared to the BR-V which is a seven-seater. We believe that Honda will price it in the range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 14 lakh.
The BR-V has been derived from the Mobilio MPV so most of the latter’s lines are visible in the silhouette . However, what is new is the face, rear light assembly, plastic cladding around the base and wheels. The cladding has been fitted to boost the SUV appearance while the wheels add sportiness to the look.
The cabin gets the usual list of stuff like climate control, leather upholstery, AC vents for the second row and a 2-DIN music system. It is surprising that Honda is not offering a touchscreen infotainment system as it did with the Mobilio. There are a plethora of cubby holes, storage spaces and both row and 2 and 3 fold down to give you a massive boot space.
It gets the same engines from the Mobilio MPV. Both the petrol and diesel units are 1.5-litre four-cylinder engines. There is 118bhp/145Nm on the tap from the petrol while the diesel produces 100bhp/200Nm. A six-speed manual is common for both but the petrol can also be had with a CVT.
