Honda Amaze spotted at a dealership, launch just around the corner

The eagerly anticipated Honda Amaze Sedan has been spotted in a showroom by the crew at Team-bhp and in a beautiful shade of blue. The Honda Amaze sedan is the Japanese automakers first diesel engined vehicle for the Indian market. Based on the Brio platform, it is sub-four metre car and is likely to be launched in April.  

The Honda Amaze that was spotted was the new petrol VX variant which we suspect will be the highest variant for the compact sedan when it is launched. Most of the car is pretty much similar to what we have been seeing on the internet so far, except that the report suggests this car is slightly taller than the one tested a few months ago. The car also features revised alloy wheels and OVRMs with integrated indicators.  

As we have said before, the Amaze will Honda’s first diesel car for the Indian market. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged i-DTEC diesel engine which produces 90bhp. This has been derived from the 1.6-litre Earthdreams diesel mill that was unveiled last year. The petrol variant will use a 1.2-litre mill which produces 88bhp and 109Nm of torque. This engine also powers the Jazz and the Brio.     

With the arrival of the cars at the dealerships and as well dealers committing to delivering the cars in the next three months, it is likely that the launch of the car is just around the corner. It is almost certain that Honda is banking on the Amaze to revive its sales which fell quite heavily after the Central government deregulated petrol prices more than a year-and-a-half ago.
