Honda India registered 8 per cent dip in sales last month; however their total sales for the fiscal year 2012-13 have increased 35 per cent compared to 2011-12. As part of their media release for March, Honda has also confirmed that they have sold 2,552 units of the Amaze sedan – this does not mean that Honda has delivered as many cars. We presume the number denotes official bookings for compact sedan, as deliveries will commence only after launch on April 11.
The Amaze is the first diesel car from Honda India. The sub-four meter sedan will compete with the Maruti Dzire in the entry-level sedan segment. The all-new diesel engine is based on the Honda’s new generation i-DTEC engines called the ‘Earth Dreams’. The power rating of 100bhp and 200Nm along with ARAI fuel efficiency of 25.8kmpl make it the best oil burner in the segment. The petrol engine on the other hand is the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC used in the Brio and the Jazz that develops 88bhp.
We drove the Amaze sedan few days ago and have put together a small first look video, along with the road test. You can also have a look at the spec sheet and all other details of the Amaze here.
