Honda Car India Ltd. have launched the facelifted Amaze sedan at a starting price of Rs 5.29 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). The car gets some changes to the exterior and interior with the addition of more equipment.
Apart from the choice of five colour options, namely, taffeta white, carnelian red pearl, urban titanium metallic, golden brown metallic and alabaster silver metallic, there is a new bluish titanium colour offered. The revised Honda Amaze sports a new chrome grille, revised bumpers, new fog-lamp enclosures and revised tail lamps. The cabin gets a new dashboard, a new instrument cluster, rectangular AC vents, automatic climate control, etc.
Engine options are carried over from the existing model, meaning the petrol variant powered by the 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine and the oil-burner getting the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor. While the petrol engine churns out 87bhp of power and 109Nm of torque, the diesel unit belts out 99bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. Gearbox options, meanwhile, include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic unit. The latter replaces the old 5-speed torque converter.
The Amaze compact sedan was first introduced in India in 2013 and was such a huge success that Honda sold one lakh units within 16 months of its launch. However, the lack of any updates over the last three years took a toll on the sales numbers. Now, with the launch of this facelifted model, things are again expected to change. The Honda Amaze competes with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest and the Ford Figo Aspire in the compact sedan segment of cars in our country.
