The Honda Accord Hybrid will be launched for the Indian market in October. Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, this will be the big H’s latest flagship once it is launched and will see the revival of their largest sedan ever offered in the country.
The Accord Hybrid for India will be offered with a 2.0-litre petrol engine and an electric motor giving it the hybrid tag. The engine and the motor put together produce 196bhp with power going to the front wheels via a CVT. The driving suite includes ABS, ESP, traction control and multiple airbags.
This new Accord, as is the case with its predecessors, is large and imposing in terms of presence but has a subtle design which combines curvy surfaces with liberal amounts of chrome. It has now become longer resulting in more space in the cabin. Standard features are expected to include two-zone climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, leather upholstery and electrically adjustable front seats.
We believe that Honda will price this new Accord in the range of Rs 30 lakh to Rs 40 lakh. This car will also benefit from the discount on hybrid/electric cars that the Centre began offering from last year.
In this price range it will compete with the likes of the Toyota Camry Hybrid as well as the soon-to-be-launched Volkswagen Passat GTE. With consumers at this price range looking to ‘Go Green’ (as it’s the latest fad) this seems like a correct time for Honda to bring its hybrid Accord to India.
