Hindustan Motors is planning to sell about 2500 Pajero SUVs in the country in this fiscal year. The company sold 1,800 units of this premium SUV last year and total of 60,000 units since its launch in 2002.
The company had launched the Pajero Sport Anniversary Edition few weeks ago which gets reverse parking cameras, touch screen GPS enabled infotainment system and new audio systems. Hindustan Motors is also planning to introduce new variants of the Pajero along with diesel powered Montero and Outlander by the end of this financial year.
The company will be increasing the price of the Pajero to be increased in September due to depreciating rupee, which is affecting their operational costs and profits. Currently, the Pajero is sold at an introductory price of Rs 23.60 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai) that is valid only till August 31.
"Last year we sold about 1,800 units. This year we are planning to sell about 2,500 units. I would say since its launch (in 2002), we should have sold about 60,000 units," said Ashish Kaul, head, sales and channel expansion, Hindustan Motors.
"Yes. It is affecting us very badly. As of now, we are offering it (Pajero) at an introductory price of Rs. 23.60 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai) till August 31. Definitely, we will increase it next month" he added.
