Volkswagen has taken the wraps off the I.D Vizzion Concept, at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. After sifting through multiple teasers, we can finally confirm that this VW’s most luxurious I.D concept vehicle and is likely to arrive in production guise around 2030.
The automaker has said that the car will be fully autonomous and when it arrives on the road, it will be a level 5 vehicle where the need for human intervention will be minimal to none at all. Thus in the overall design, there is no steering or physical interface with everything being controlled through gesture control and a hologram technology that Microsoft will provide to VW over the coming years.
In terms of design, the I.D Vizzion is a combination of the MEB vehicles as well as shapes from the current line-up. It has been positioned as a luxury vehicle and thus mimics the Areton in terms of design, but it has the minimalist face seen in the other I.D models.
The concept car has been fitted with a 111kWh lithium-ion battery pack that gives it a range of 664km. There are two separate electric motors that produce the equivalent of 302bhp and also give the car AWD or in VW’s parlance- 4Motion.
Other swanky features of the I.D Vizzion include matrix-LED headlamps and logo, suicide doors, trunks at the front and rear and seating for four persons. The I.D Vizzion joins the likes of the I.D Crozz, I.D Buzz and of course, I.D hatchback, as a new range of vehicles that Volkswagen will put into production from 2025 onwards.
