Just a few days before the Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen has taken the wraps off the Tiguan AllSpace. It is a new addition to the VW lineup and will slot in between regular Tiguan and the next generation Touraeg expected to debut later this year.
As the name suggests, it is a long wheelbase version of the India bound SUV. This extended length (addition of 215 mm to the overall length and 109mm to the wheelbase) means you can have the SUV with seven-seats but with sufficient space in the second and third row. In terms of design, it looks exactly like the standard Tiguan but sports the latest design from the VW stables.
It is being offered with a range of four-cylinder and six-cylinder diesel as well as petrol engines. These engines can be had with an AT/MT box with certain variants also getting the option of their 4Motion AWD system. In terms features all variants get air conditioning, leather wrapped steering wheel and a host of radar and camera based safety systems to comply with European safety standards.
Volkswagen has confirmed that the Tiguan is coming to India and we will get in this LWB format but it will simply just be called the Tiguan. It is expected to be locally assembled for India and will slot into the Rs 30 lakh to Rs 35 lakh price range.
