Geneva Motor Show 2017: Maserati introduces Special Editions

Another year, another ‘special edition’ of the GranTurismo. Maserati is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its iconic grand tourer, the 3500 GT at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Commemorating the anniversary will be a Special Edition of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio. The Italian carmaker’s first SUV, the Levante, on the other hand, showcased an interior concept made up of 100 per cent silk.

GranTurismo and GranCabrio Special Editions

The GranTurismo and GranCabrio Special Editions will be limited to 400 units. These exclusive cars will sport a three-layer ‘Rosso Italiano’ exterior paint finish, paying tribute to the 1957 F1 racer Maserati 250F. Other paint options include Bianco Birdcage, Grigio Lava and the usual Nero, Bianco Eldorado, Nero Carbonio, Grigio Granito. The 20-inch MC wheels are done in glossy black with a Special Edition logo on the wheel caps. Step inside and you’ll find new interior upholstery wrapped in exotic material like Poltrona Frau Leather and Alcantara, with a cross-stitching choice of four different combinations. The door sills are carbon fibre highlighting the Special Edition. The centre console has a plaque showcasing the exclusive limited production run of 400 units. The carbon fibre treatment extends to the front splitter, door handles, side mirrors, rear lip spoiler.

Maserati Levante

The SUV of Maserati’s line-up showcased a new ‘conceptual Ermenegildo Zegna cockpit’. Ermenegildo Zegna, an Italian luxury fashion house, has developed a 100 per cent silk fabric, especially for Maserati. Different patterns and colours are used on the upholstery, door panels, roof lining and even sun visors to accentuate the premium Italian feel. Showcased on the top-of-the-line Maserati Levante, the E.Zegna treatment will extend to the current Maserati line-up

Maserati Quattroporte

The Quattroporte saloon graced the Geneva stage with its presence in two configurations – GTS GranSport and SQ4 GranLusso version. The GTS has a 3.8-litre Ferrari-sourced twin-turbo V8 engine producing 530bhp and 710Nm. The lavish sedan will do a 100kmph from standstill in mere 4.7seconds. The SQ4 GranLusso, on the other hand, sends 410bhp from 3.0-litre V6 to all four wheels via Maserati’s Q4 all-wheel-drive system.

Maserati Ghibli and Levante S

A diesel powered Ghibli saloon and the top-of-the-line Levante S rounded off the Italian marque's complete range. Both the cars, along with the Quattroporte, showcased the new infotainment system which is now made compatible with smartphone connectivity and 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen.
