Skoda India had confirmed the launch of the Octavia RS for the year 2017 and we now know what they were waiting for. Welcome the Skoda Octavia RS 245, the most powerful Octavia built till date and has broken cover at the Geneva Motor Show 2017.
The Octavia RS 245 will be available both as a sedan as well as a wagon across the globe but here in India, it will be the sedan only. The global Skoda Octavia is a facelift ahead of the India car and features a twin headlamp setup that harks back to the previous-gen Octavia which we know as the Laura here in India. The fascia is dominated by the signature moustache grille and the LED DRLs splitting with the headlamps. The profile and especially the C-shaped tail lamps are exactly like the Octavia we get here.
Under the hood of the RS 245, you have the 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine belting out 242bhp of peak power and a peak torque of 370Nm kicking in from as low as 2500rpm. Globally, you have the option of buying the RS with a six-speed manual gearbox if you do not want the 7-speed DSG. It gets an electronically controlled limited-slip differential as well. The RS 245 also sits lower than the previous RS and gets a wider rear track for better performance around corners as well. It gets a distinct exhaust note as well which has been engineered to add to the overall driving experience.
Along with the Octavia RS 245, Skoda also unveiled the Octavia Scout, the Octavia’s Spartan brother which gets more muscle and equipment. While the Scout is not coming to India anytime soon, the Octavia RS 245 engine might make it to the country under the skin of the current Octavia. If not that, we will have the 230bhp setup for sure.
