Bentley has taken the opportunity at the Geneva stage to showcase its intentions of pioneering the electric luxury segment by showcasing an opulent electric concept. Christened as Bentley EXP 12 Speed 6e Concept, the British marque showcases future Bentley exterior and interior design direction.
Bentley is keen on entering the electric vehicle sector in its future portfolio and will make use of the concept to get feedback from its customers to shape its upcoming luxury electric car strategy. The car maker asserts that its future electric car will not compromise on Bentley’s standard of refinement, performance and quality with the Bentley EXP 12 Speed 6e Concept.
The show car carries forward the design from EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept showcased at Geneva two years back, albeit without a roof but equally affluent and lavish interiors and an electric powertrain (hence the ‘e’ in the name). The large iconic Bentley grille with engraved 6 is complimented by large oval headlamp pods. The bonnet vent expresses its performance intentions as the overall shape reminiscent the Continental, but a lot sleeker. The interior, in characteristic Bentley fashion, is opulent with a curved glass extending into a high-definition infotainment screen in the centre console. The ‘cut-away’ steering wheel is handmade and has two ‘rocket’ marked buttons on it – one gives a performance boost, while the other limits the power for use around town. The unique red hue leather is garnished with exquisite copper elements around the gear selector, Dynamic Drive dial and in the door veneer panels.
There are no details on the powertrain that the concept uses, but given the ownership, it’s expected that the upcoming Bentley EVs will share the running gear with the Porsche Mission E. The British marque’s push towards electrification would include PHEV models in the coming year, with the Bentayga leading the charge from next year.
